New Location and date for Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk’s 14^th Annual Roger Metcalf Memorial Golf Classic

Monday, May 21, 2012 at St. George’s Golf and Country Club, East Setauket

Middle Island, NY… Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk’s 14^th Annual Roger Metcalf Memorial Golf Classic will be held on Monday, May 21, 2012 at St. George’s Golf and Country Club in East Setauket. Registration fees start at $250 per player with sponsorships available starting at $500. Habitat Suffolk’s Golf Outing is held in memory of Roger Metcalf, Habitat Suffolk’s leader for 13 years, who passed away suddenly in September 1999, days before that year’s scheduled Golf Outing. He was the “heart and soul of Habitat”. Roger coordinated the construction of 45 houses in partnership with families in need from over those thirteen years beginning in 1987.

The goal of this event is to continue to raise funds and awareness in support of Habitat Suffolk’s affordable housing program. Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk is the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to building decent, affordable housing in partnership with low-income working families in Suffolk County. Since 1987, Habitat Suffolk has built homeownership opportunities for over 151 families and realized more than $10 million dollars of reinvestment in Suffolk County.
